Aisling when Neenee, Grandad, your Mum and Uncle Hugh were living in Samoa in 1990 Cyclone Ofa struck. That was a very scary experience. We were very lucky as the house we lived in was hardly damaged, but we could look out the window and see coconut trees being hurled through the air by the strong winds. It was spooky to put your habd on an exterior wall and feel it flexing in the wind. When it was over and we were able to go into Apia we saw all the people rescuing building materials so they could rebuild their fales. Lots of our friends had to rebuild or repair their houses.
ReplyDeleteHi Aisling, Gosh its lovely and so interesting to read your Grandad's response to your Blog post.Very scary. Overnight there has been a terribly storm in Auckland. Not quite the level of devistation that there was in Samoa, but ir would have been very scary for some of those families so close to home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for completing this blog post. You have made a great start to understanding cause and effect. I woul dlove to see you looking for some more detail and looking at some Inferential details (reading between the lines)
Thanks Aisling

Kia ora Aisling,
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting blog that has sparked a lot of great conversation if the comments are anything to go by. Isn't it great when a blog post sparks interest.
It would have been great if you had written a little bit more information in your DLO. It's great to think of because because when you are writing a reason for something.
Keep up the great learning and blogging,
